The Foyle Arena is a new £12million leisure and events arena located in St Columb’s Park. The state of the art facility is a Centre of Excellence for Wall Climbing, Judo and Wrestling and has a 2000 capacity events space. The facilities include:

Swimming
As well as a 25m, 6 lane Swimming pool and children’s play pool (with water features), there will be an extensive programme of pool activities available to users of the Foyle Arena. Activities will include swimming lessons for all age groups and all levels, aqua aerobics and lifesaving courses. For further details on swimming lessons please contact reception.

Fitness Suite
At Foyle Arena fitness suite you can expect first class facilities matched by first class service. The suite will be fully staffed by a qualified gym team offering support and advice.
An induction and bespoke personal programme is offered to all members as part of your membership package and includes ongoing support with a four week review process to help you continue to achieve your personal fitness goals. The state of the art equipment includes ample free weights, an excellent range of cv equipment and a functional area.
Our team will offer members free interactive workshops on exercise techniques during peak times and on the spot advice.

Fitness Classes
A wide ranging programme of Group Fitness classes is planned for the Arena timetable which will include activities such as Pilates, 50+, regular Spin classes and BOOT CAMP in the main hall. Pay & Play Classes will be £4.00 per session, with a Voucher Option (10 classes for the price of 8) available at Reception.
Main Hall
The Multi-Sports Hall will cater for basketball, badminton, indoor five-a-side, Judo, netball, volleyball, martial arts and even music concerts/shows. There are 8 badminton courts and retractable wall from the ceiling dividing one side of the hall (matted activities such as martial arts) from the other (multi-sports).
Did you know?
There is retractable bleacher seating in the main hall with 400 seats that can be reduced or increased according to event size between 1 – 7 rows. With a capacity of up to 1500 people in the hall, it can host concerts and has portable staging.
Strength & Conditioning
The Strength & Conditioning Suite can be booked out by sports teams with their own Strength & Conditioning Coach or alternatively teams can avail of the expertise offered by the Strength & Conditioning Coaches on the Foyle Arena staff. For further details please contact Reception.
Climbing Wall
The wall is the only full size international standard climbing wall in Northern Ireland and large enough to accommodate a number of groups at any one time. It will cater for a variety of groups from beginner to international standard and includes a bouldering wall, 3 story 15 metre sections, top roping walls and lead roping walls. Sections of the wall will be available for hire for private bookings.

Registration
All Climbers must complete a registration form and will be asked sample questions at reception to confirm they are competent enough to use the wall unsupervised. Foyle Arena has two types of registration. The first is a Fully registered member, which is for competent climbers only and allows them to take part in roped climbing and Bouldering. We also have a Bouldering only registration which allows climbers to use the bouldering wall only. Please ask reception for the appropriate registration form when you arrive. A fully registered member can supervise a maximum of two people on wall. Bouldering only members are not allowed to supervise guests. Once approved, registered climbers can access the wall unsupervised for the activity they registered for. Beginners who cannot complete the registration process must attend one of our courses which will teach you the skills required to become an accredited user.
NICAS
We are Northern Ireland’s only Primary NICAS Centre offering all 5 levels and our courses follow the NICAS system. See http://www.nicas.co.uk for further information. To book onto a beginner course please contact reception.”
Group Bookings
“The climbing wall is available for group bookings and Foyle Arena can provide instruction for your group, please contact reception for availability and prices. External organisations who are providing their own instruction are welcome to bring their own group to the wall, however a booking form is essential before any group activity can commence. We also require a copy of the instructors qualifications (CWA, CWLA, SPA, MIA etc ), their current first aid certificate and proof of insurance. Foyle Arena recommend a maximum instructor ratio of 1:10 for climbing, please contact management before you arrive if you want to increase this for your session.”

FAQ
- Are there Car Parking Facilities?
There are adequate car parking spaces available at the Foyle Arena with designated spaces for disabled parking.
- Is there a cafe?
There will be a cafe/ snack facility in the Foyle Arena conveniently located with views of both the Climbing Wall and Swimming Pools.
- Will the job vacancies be advertised externally?
The posts for the Foyle Arena will initially be filled through an internal process and any remaining vacancies will be advertised externally through our website. At this stage we don’t anticipate any external recruitment before the end of April.
Bookings
- Can you book birthday parties?
Birthday party bookings will be available for the Foyle Arena. There will be party packages available for the Climbing Wall, Swimming Pool and Multi-Sports Halls. There is a dedicated party room with kitchen facilities available for hire.Please contact reception for details and prices.
- Can you book the main hall for events / exhibitions?
The main hall will be available for corporate hire for events and exhibitions and can cater for a maximum capacity of 1500.Please contact reception or contact info@foylearena.com for prices/ availability.
- Can you book facilities online?
At this stage online booking is not available but we hope to offer this service shortly. For all bookings contact reception.
Fitness Suite
- Will the gym be council owned and operated?
The new Health & Fitness Suite and Strength and Conditioning room at the Foyle Arena will be 100% owned and managed by Derry City and Strabane District Council.
- Is use of the Strength & Conditioning Suite covered in the Gym Membership?
The Strength and Conditioning Suite will not be included as part of the Gym membership. However, individuals and groups can book sessions with the onsite Strength & Conditioning coaches.
Activities
- Can you hire the Climbing Wall for events and parties?
Sections of the wall will be available for hire for private bookings. The Climbing Wall is large enough to accommodate a number of groups at any one time. The Climbing Wall would only be closed for exclusive use on limited occasions and for special events.For bookings contact reception.
- Is the Pool available for hire?
The new centre has a 25m, 6 – lane Swimming pool alongside a children’s play pool with dedicated teaching area. The Swimming pool will be available for hire both for exclusive use and per lane.
